Remember to register to vote

Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump. Gary Johnson. Jill Stein. Who will win?

With the November 8 Election Day coming eerily close, many may wonder how to get involved and have their say in who becomes the next president of the United States.

Registering to Vote

The first benchmark to complete before Election Day is registering to vote. This can be done in a variety of different ways, both on and off campus. For those who would like to stay on campus and register via a form, you can do so this week during Constitution Week.

However, registering from the comfort of your dorm room is just as easy. Pennsylvania is one of the 33 states that offer online voter registration, according to the New York University of Law. The application can be accessed by following this link: or searching “online voter registration Pa” in any search engine.

The last day to register to vote is October 11. Anyone who registers later than this date will not be able to vote in the November 8 presidential election.

Voting from Millersville

While some professors and employers may encourage taking time off on Election Day to vote, there is no Pennsylvania law that explicitly requires them to do so. Because of this lack of legislature, a student at Millersville may not be able to travel home to vote in person in their home municipality.

Those who are registered to vote in any city other than Millersville will not be able to vote in Millersville on Election Day. If you can not make it home in time to vote in person, and you are still interested in voting, you must cast an absentee ballot.

To request an absentee ballot, download the form here: . The absentee request must be submitted by November 1.

When the request is approved, one must cast their actual absentee ballot, and have it sent and postmarked, by November 4.
